Thrower went on to play for Michigan State and was the first African-American QB to play in the NFL. My uncle said he could throw the football 70 yards and no receiver could outrun one of his passes. Some names on there that my dad talked about in the 30' and 40's. Willie Thrower was a name I remember him talking about. Dad was a 1948 graduate of Turentum who if I recall was undefeated that year and had Bud Carson was on the team.
If I remember from my dad he was a pretty good baseball player too that's were dad competed against him.Thrower went on to play for Michigan State and was the first African-American QB to play in the NFL. My uncle said he could throw the football 70 yards and no receiver could outrun one of his passes.
This is very cool.
