Explains what?

Reading his bio, he appears to be extremely well qualified. I wish our Trustees would pick out a President as well-qualified.

I don't get it.....what are we explaining here? I saw the fact this guy gets lots of research money out of the government, but everyone gets money out of our government these days. So if there's hanky panky there, we're likely immune to it cause corruption is on full throttle these days. Overall, it appears a well qualified person got the lead job at a big university. I would say I don't care, but I read the article and have 5-10 minutes of my life now invested in Doc Chang......so I can't say it now or some other poster will ask me why I commented if I didn't care:cool:.

This guy was a finalist for USC earlier this year, but then withdrew his name. Obviously he knew the Purdue job was coming open.
Didn't know that. We should have tried our damnedest to hire him. Still upset we lost one on our university staff that was a Presidential candidate to Minnesota.

This man would have gotten us into the AAU, no doubt about it. Whiffing on him was a tragedy of immense proportions.
I thought Palms would have a good chance of getting us in....and he'd tried his best.

Amirides was a very good choice, this guy might have been even better. Until last week I did not know that it has been FIVE YEARS since we last had a capital campaign. Yet another sign of how dysfunctional the board and Caslon were.
