…surprised that no one on here attended or if they did, they did not comment.

- unique opportunity to spend some time visiting with the First Lady of Penn State, Mrs. Sue Paterno. What a terrific, classy lady!

- good opportunity to catch up with some old Lettermen friends and meet some I had never met before. Including some all-time greats.

- the general mood was increasing scepticism with elements of the Franklin regime that gets commented on here…game day coaching/decision-making and OLine play. That does not make them right or Franklin supporters wrong…but it does provide some perspective.

- to no surprise, the group was pleased (and surprised) by the showing on Saturday. By my eye, it was the most solid game Penn State has played in that kind of environment in a long, long time.

- also of no surprise, there is hope that this might be the start of something positive…but I sensed the group remains in a “show me some consistency and that this was not a one-off” mood.

Perhaps I heard what I wanted to validate my opinion, but I found myself strongly aligned with the general feeling of the Letterman I spoke with..

…so hoping to see CJF and the boys build on Saturday. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed if this included losses to Michigan, O$U, and maybe another team.

But there is a real thirst for a return to hard-nosed, smart, football…after all this is the brand that they, Joe and so many other players and coaches built over 6 decades.

I sure hope those hopes are fulfilled. Can’t wait to see this week’s effort at Beaver Stadium this week!

Not so sure about that. After Saturday's performance I think some are expecting more. And I think all of us are getting a little tired of losing to Ohio State.

I hear you but crawl, walk, run…I would be happy if we don’t get shoved around by teams of Illinois’ ilk. And take it from there. Would consider it a great season if we could go 9-3. Ohio State is mega-talented, and well-coached…tall order.

You were in Pittsburgh and didn't attend the matinee performance of the Civic Light Opera instead? Peasant! :) :) :) :) :)
