After looking at all of the ones listed they could use the cowbell..........or Murphy's law.

For the other two sports

Already a few I disagree with:

Iowa has to be Hayden Fry.
Houston, like it or not, should be John Jenkins.
Colorado I would vote for Bill McCartney.
I also think the mascots and stadiums are copouts, but if that is an option, I would have to vote for the Swamp over Spurrier at Florida. The face of your program CAN NOT be coaching another team in your division.

The face of the Oregon football program is Phil Knight. Damn I hate Nike. And yet I still buy their stuff.

But I kinda agree. I don't think we really have a "face" of the university. Yeah people are going to associate a current coach (Croom, Stans, Polk/Cohen) with a school/program, but I don't think there's any one figure, such as a former player or coach, that outsiders think of when they think MSU. In the SEC, maybe Jackie, and baseball fans will think of Polk, but that's it. I think for most of the few that know anything about MSU, if there's anything they associate with the school it's the cowbell... or cow pastures.

If they had fictional schools on there, Minnesota State would be a three-way tie.

On a slightly related note, here is some random knowledge - Dauber does the voice of Patrick Star on Spongebob.

Nothing wrong with him, but how does he become the face of MSU football?

Jackie Sherrill is probably the most identifiable part of MSU football to the general public in yankeeland.

Johnny Cooks should have been in there. I know defensive players are not always as popular as offensive. However, he is our highest draft pick ever and played many years in the NFL.

Ole Miss.......because Archie was before my time and Eli is to soon. I think Ole Miss. I think about a crowd full of Confederate Flags. Not meant as a dig but when I went to my first game in Oxford there was a sea of them.

Memphis......night games at the Liberty Bowl. Or Scott Schere.....hey he beat UT........Oh, Xavier Crawford converting a 4th and 1 into a 40 yard TD romp in Starkville to seal a win on a good State team......bastard.

One question, though:

The SEC adopted a rule in 1974 banning artificial noisemakers. The vote was 9-1 (there were 10 SEC schools at the time), and you can guess which school voted against it. Despite the rule, cowbells can still be heard ringing every time the Bulldogs score or make a big play.
Everyone on this board says LT voted for this rule. So who is correct? ESPN, or Joe Sixpack?

Geez. How long do you think Templeton was AD here? 1974 was 34 years ago. Shira or Tyler was AD back then. Templeton did vote to enforce the rule with on the field penalties back in 2000 or so.

I don't think he was. Didn't he start in the 80's?

Edited to add: "Templeton has served since 1987 as director of athletics."

After Charley Shira, Bob Tyler was AD, and then Carl Maddox, Charley Scott, Charlie Carr, and then Larry Templeton. If Joe Dean Jr's name was Charles, I think he would have been named AD.
