Maybe its just the similar build, both 5' 11 and in the 185 to 200 lb. range, similar hair style esp given the color highlights,, both wearing the # 3, but watching his highlight and then watching Giles in HS on you tube, he reminded me of a more well developed Jarvis Giles, with 15 more lbs. as I saw similar running styles as well on the highlights as well.

Did we just sign Jarvis Giles's, Better, More Accomplished, Doppelganger?

I had forgotten about Jarvis Giles. I guess Lattimore blew past him on the depth chart so he left for Louisville.
This guy sounds good. I think one of our problems against Illinois was that Sanders wasn't there. No offense to Adaway, but Sanders was just better. Hope Adaway, the young guys and Faison can fill the void at running back.

That size is concerning to me.

Adaway played respectably well in the bowl game. Averaged close to 5ypc.

I agree. I don't think we lost that game because Adaway was inadequate.

Could Sanders or another back have possibly broken a long run to score us another TD? Maybe. But we lost because the best runner on the field looked like he didn't want to run, for some reason.

Now that you mention it, I’ve never seen them at the same time in the same place

I appreciate Adaway, but we’ve seen enough for him to know he is not remotely a difference maker. Howell, Fuller and Faison could be very formidable
I didn’t say he was. I just said it is tough to say he hurt us in the bowl game when he averaged almost 5ypc. I was hoping Fuller would get some carries, but didn’t happen.

I was just giving my opinion of who I think has the better upside. I wasn’t really disagreeing with anything you said. Sorry if it sounded like that.

Looks like he has a quick first step and accelerates quickly. He also does not hesitate on his cuts. I like what I see.

Just to be clear, I was not criticizing Adaway or blaming him for the loss.
My point is he is simply not as good as Sanders. Feel free to disagree.

Don’t disagree for the most part. Rocket made some big plays when he was healthy. When he was banged up, he ran very tentatively. Let me say that I am glad Rocket was here. He fit what we needed right now; a big back that could break tackles. He gave opposing DCs something to plan against, but sometimes this tentativeness was frustrating to watch.

But yes, Rocket is a better back with a higher ceiling than Adaway.

Adaway is a good back and will produce when he gets his number called. More concerning to me is wanting to make sure Howell and Fuller especially get touches to keep them happy. They both still have tremendous upside and will be starters at some point. My general feeling right now is that Faison will start. Obviously, his tape is nice and his open field craftiness is a beautiful compliment to Lanoris Sellars’ running game. I heard a Cory Boyd comparison and that seemed pretty accurate.

You're right about Howell and Fuller. I hope they stay too, but that's the downside of the portal. If they don't get substantial playing time they may leave for greener pastures. A new concept for college coaches is having to re-build every year. Sabin actually said that was one of the reasons he retired. Like it or not; it's where we are now.

Anyone with insight into his receiving ability. Don’t pay attention to Utah State, but on the surface seeing 22 receptions for 99 yards is a little underwhelming. Averaged around 4.6 at his time there while Rocket was at 11.7 this year and probably 10ypc for his career.

If they don't take playing time from a Utah state and Texas state rb, then they are they really worth holding onto?

Maybe like no one took playing time from those linebackers from Delaware and Charlotte?

I think they produced at a different level than this though, right?

But I do see your point. I just see the slobbery against lower division players as justified more often than it's not. ( and i admit it's snobbery)

Just saying it doesn’t matter what the players past is. If you can play, you can play. I’m also not into writing these guys off immediately and like to watch them progress as players, producing better results.

Don't disagree. But at some point t they need to take over, not sit while another directional school player gets brought in to play in front of them.

Admitted impatience.
