No ****. The question is will the Jets be any good? Do they have the supporting cast on both sides of the ball where a guy like Favre can make the difference between going to the playoffs and staying at home? I'm not convinced they do, especially since they're in the AFC East with the Pats. Maybe a wild card is in store.

they would have had a good shot at making a run for the NFC South Championship. I know little of the Jets, but I don't see where he will have much talent around him.

I've already heard "Broadway Brett" twice on ESPN. That doesn't sound right at all. I'm already tired of hearing it.

Minnesota should be jumping for joy and have the phone ready. Pennington would be the perfect candidate to play QB in Minnesota. The guy's not going to throw for 250 yards and 3 TD's per game, but he's a good game manager who's not going to throw INT's and get you beat. I think he'd be a good fit with their running game and defense.

They were talking about him being the backup, but he's better than Tarvaris Jackson, right? And I'm not a big believer in Chad Pennington by any means.

The Green Bay Packers Offensive Line was built to protect Favre. That's the only reason he has lasted this long. Now he goes to the Jets? I hope they have a good backup because he won't make it through the whole season.

Sacks Allowed (2007)
Green Bay Packers - 19

It was nice knowing ya Brett.

His Choices were to play football or not. Once the Packers and Jets got assurance that he would play in NY, the Jets offer was more desirable to the Pack. He did NOT have trade approval.

I am a Jets fan. I told my niece, also a Jets fan, on Saturday that when this was all done Favre was going to the Jets for a second round pick. Pretty good guess. It just made the most sense once you realized that Brett only had the 2 choices.

Won't hear much from him any more. He'll take a beating in New York. Probably get a lot of media coverage at first, but eventually it will be uncomfortable to watch such a sad case. Many years ago Joe Namath finished his career with the Rams, and it was pretty sad. This will be similar. Plus, because he has the ego and maturity level of an attention-starved twelve year old, Favre will really be out to prove something, which means that he will be wrecklaess and throw a lot of interceptions. The Jets will be lucky to win 5 games with him at the helm. The Packers made a good move getting rid of him at this point. Who knew he would turn into such a tremendous whiner.

The Packers wanted to move on. Farve wanted to keep playing. He told them that he understood that they wanted to move on and asked for a release. The Packers, however, tried to pay him off to keep him from playing so they wouldn't catch crap from the fans if the new QB turned out to be not so good. He declined. He just wanted to play. So what does the team that he helped bring back from football hell do? They trade him to a team that has no damn line which will increase the likelihood of Farve getting killed this year and very possibly will not do well so if the fans *****, they can say "Look at him in NY, we would have been worse than we are now!"

Is there anything that would prevent the Jets from trading Favre to Minnesota? If I'm the Vikings, i might be on the phone with the Jets offering a guaranteed first round draft pick for the chance at Favre and a legitimate Super Bowl chance. The Jets end up just swapping a 4th round pick for a 1st round pick for being a mere intermediary. But i guess if you're New York, you might not want to trade the QB you just acquired. But if that's the case, what would stop Favre from throwing a hissy fit in New York in the next week and pull a "trade me to Minnesota or i'm re-retiring" stunt? I'm just kind of thinking out loud and wondering if the Packers included a clause in their trade with the Jets that New York couldn't trade Favre.

Favre wouldn't have been traded to the Jets if he hadn't given assurances that he would play for them. No guarantees of what he might do, but if he refused to play for the Jets, he'd come across as a bald-faced liar. Not to mention that would probably just void the trade and send him back to Green Bay. As for the Jets trading him to the Vikings, it would be hard to believe that some sort of illegal communications and/or deal hadn't been done before the Packers-Jets deal if that happened. I suspect the league would block it.
