Because of omicron the NCAA should be proactive and just cancel all bowls except for the 4-team playoff. There is little interest in these bowls and the TV ratings will be abysmal. The players don't really seem interested either. Why sponsor events that are super spreader events when nobody is interested in the first place?

They will probably go after the winner of Florida/UCF Gasparilla Bowl tomorrow, or perhaps they could get a waiver for Florida State to play a bowl game.

Yes, do it because of Omicron and then continue doing it because of the reasons you stated.

Also, please bring your lemonears avatar over here.

Thank you.

Is Franklin keeping the players and coaches in a BUBBLE. o_O or are they more or less free until they leave for Florida?

Why do you think the players aren't interested? Because a very small percentage of NFL prospects opted out?
What other evidence do you have?

So, because of potential COVID spread, you would recommend cancelling games where "no one cares", because they would be super-spreader events among all of the people who don't care. But playing games that would involve cramming 100,000 fans into an enclosed stadium - not to mention involving a week of heavy loads of travelling tourists, crowding into local bars and restaurants.
OK. That makes sense. Because, obviously, if the underlying event is one where people care, everyone is immune to viruses.

Of course I haven't polled the players and I can't provide you with such data. In past bowl seasons we heard plenty of chatter from the coaches and players. This year there is none. Remember the photos of the Penn State team landing at the bowl site and a huge reception party? This year crickets. Where is all the hoopla about preparation? None. Why isn't Clifford on TV talking about the Arkansas defense and how great they are? Why isn't Franklin giving interviews about how excited he is to play the game? There seems to be zero excitement about our game and about the non-championship games.

So, you are judging all bowl games based on your perceived response of PSU players/fans/coaches more than 8 days before the game? Pretty lame.
Do me a favor and tune into the Army game tonight and tell me they don't care.

On a similar note, UL Cards MBB just got beat last wk by Western Ky,. Subsequently UL cancelled their game tonight with UK. Louisville seems to be dodging the UK beatdown. Calipari was able to get a game at 6p.m. with Western Kyf tonight. Should be a good one.
Having 4 tickets for the Outback Bowl , I'm hoping we can hold off the scourge of SARS-CoV-2.

NCAA doesn't have the authority to do that.

Yeah, it wasn’t just COVID, though that will grab the headlines. Opting out and the portal are f*cking things up.
Thing is, bowl games in general don't garner the same interest they once did. First, there are too many. Second, the waning interest seemed to coincide with the implementation of the playoffs. The Country's attention is primarily focused on those three games. All other games are just an afterthought at best.
