Ah, the legendary Scottie Appleton. Drafted by the Cowboys in the first round, rights traded to the Steelers for All-Pro WR Buddy Dial, and signed with the AFL Houston Oilers. Dial wound up with the Cowboys, the Steelers wound up with bupkis (which was their wont in that era), and Appleton wound up as a never-was.

1963 was a great year in college football. The Panthers of ASWP wound up 9-1, rated #3, losing to only to Roger Staubach and #2 Navy. They began a longstanding tradition of staying home for Christmas, no bowl game for the ASWPers.
