Now that he’s slated to be with Arizona for the better part of the next decade, though, Kingsbury was singing a different tune in a Thursday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, basically dismissing the thought of ever going back to coach at the collegiate level.

“I tell everybody and I’m not making this up, I would do anything before I went back to that,” Kingsbury said, via Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com. “Like I would do any job.

“It’s full time now with the social media and you’re either tweeting, calling, facetiming and there’s like this constant anxiety, because if you’re not doing it, the university down the street is. It just never goes away. [In the NFL], when you’re done with the football, you’re done, you go live your life. College, it just never goes away.”

Totally agree. I think at one time college coaches were mostly held in high regard. Can’t think of any now simply because the nature of the job is to hustle (and all that goes with it).

He's not wrong about the job demand. On top of coaching the football team, now you are re-recruiting your team year around with the risk of the portal. Plus, the high school recruits now judge schools on how much stroking they get from the staff in the way of tweets, calls, texts, and mailings on top of the football and in some cases the school stuff.

Frankly, too many on hear ***** about the size of staff within the football program now. Based on the 24x7 demand of the program, it is justified. Maybe someday college sports will get a governing body that can actual do something and make a difference resulting in change, but it is what it is until such time.

Coachspeak interpretation: I have this nice new contract that I can retire on even if I am fired. However, if I happen to be fired, I'll explore NFL opportunities before college positions as long as they pay more. If no NFL opportunities exist, I'll return to college. And when I do, I'll say I will take any job before taking a NFL job . I will espouse that this is my dream job and how much I have always enjoyed coaching and mentoring young men.

I understand from whence he comes. Callege football was and always will be babysitting duty. Free agency exacerbates the situation. That said, ole Kliff there might have no choice. He could be maintaining the robots at White Castle if he's not careful.
