I would agree that the University BoT should not be commenting or taking a position on off campus gambling.

I am ambivalent about the University advertising gambling, although I am leery about the University establishing some sort of anti-gambling program. In concert with that, though, I would hope the various coaching staffs/athletic department have an annual message about student athletes being approached by gamblers.

I admire Carl Nassib not bothering. I probably should have done the same thing.

To be clear:

The person(s) writing the letter - who solicited input from the Trustee candidates - was referring to the marketing of gambling products, by PSU, to PSU students (and how PSU might assist students with gambling-related difficulties).

Nassib not responding is, I think, not surprising,
Wagman and Short deflecting to a non-issue (PSU has no position on private gambling businesses) is also, I suppose, not surprising.

McGloin and DeLevie - whether you appreciate their stance or not - at least had the respect for basic stewardship duties to make thoughtful responses to the questions.

All in all, about what one might have expected.

Honestly, I thought ira brought a casino to Nittany Mall years ago. Of course, I’m an idiot.
