That worked out pretty well.
Brian Gaia and Derek Dowrey
"Worked out pretty well" in that otherwise they didn't have enough offensive linemen to have a one-deep depth chart? Sure.
Other than that, not so much.
It still remains one of the Modern Wonders of College Football that Moorhead put together that offense - that averaged 38 points per game, including 38+ points in its last seven games, including Wisconsin, USC, Iowa, and Michigan State, among others.
With a starting offensive line of: Ryan Bates, Freshman, Steve Gonzalez, freshman, Brian Gaia, backup defensive tackle pressed into duty as an offensive center, Connor McGovern, freshman, Chaz Wright, prep school recruit (who committed to Penn State during the time when Penn State didn't have a head coach, and, maybe, had other offers from Connecticut and some FCS schools) - and really no back-ups behind them to speak of.
Talk about doing more with less. Chicken Feathers into Filet Mignon.
