Bradshaw was injured in the game and missed a good portion.Led to the Steelers having the privilege of losing to the Dolphins the following week when Chuck Noll forgot punters are football players too.
A healthy Bradshaw wasn't going to change anything. It was just not meant to be.Bradshaw was injured in the game and missed a good portion.
Starting QB would not have made a difference?A healthy Bradshaw wasn't going to change anything. It was just not meant to be.
Steelers win that game if Bradshaw doesn’t get hurt.A healthy Bradshaw wasn't going to change anything. It was just not meant to be.
Same here with my dad. Row O Section 63. Had a great view of the play.I was there. My family had Steeler season tickets in those days. A magical moment.
I thought Roberto Clemente’s plane went down on New Year’s Eve?I was there with my brother. My father and other brother were also there, seated in a different section. had to LISTEN to the Dolphins game on the radio due to NFL blackout rules back then (we didn’t have tickets for that one). And then the next morning I woke up to news Roberto’s plane went down . .
That’s correct. The Steelers-Dolphins game was December 31, 1972. The next morning (New Year’s Day) when I woke up I learned of the plane crash the day before.I thought Roberto Clemente’s plane went down on New Year’s Eve?
True, but if you recall, the Steelers were not even expected to be in that game. That Dolphins team remains the only NFL team in history to complete an undefeated season. The Immaculate Reception signaled the beginning of an era dominated by the Steelers.Led to the Steelers having the privilege of losing to the Dolphins the following week when Chuck Noll forgot punters are football players too.
And yet they still lost the game after that 'catch'. that 'catch' gave them the privilege of doing so.True, but if you recall, the Steelers were not even expected to be in that game. Actually the Steelers beat the Raiders. They lost in the tigke game the following week. It certainly was an amazing event in NFL history. And yet they still lost the game after that 'catch'. that 'catch' gave them the privilege of doing so.
yes that is exactly what i said. the catch gave them the privilege of losing the next week. to a coach that knew that punters are football players tooActually the Steelers beat the Raiders. They lost in the tigke game the following week. It certainly was an amazing event in NFL history.
Shula was one of the best during an era of great coaches. Shula, Landry, Noll, Davis, Schram, Grant.....etc etc. All left their mark on the league.yes get is exactly what i said. the catch gave them the privilege of losing the next week. to a coach that knew that punters are football players to.
Best part of being elderly...we saw this event and many more great moments live!I was there. My family had Steeler season tickets in those days. A magical moment.
Speaking of Bradshaw....how is he never mentioned when people discuss/list the greatest of all time?Steelers win that game if Bradshaw doesn’t get hurt.
I was at a wrestling tournament in jersey shore. Won my first match and didn’t have to wrestle till later that day. Me and my friends went downtown to play pinball at a bar (Yeah they allowed us even though I was only eleven). So I’m concentrating on my game when I heard this huge uproar in this smoke filled bar. Naturally I had to check it out and saw the replays on the tv. I had no idea of the magnitude of the play except for one thing, Franco Harris from Penn State scored the game winning touchdown . I became a Steelers fan that day.My dad and I were watching the game on a black and white set in his tv room. I was 13.
What I remember is, after the play, we both just looked at each other and said, "what just happened?" Replays weren't instant in those days.
FIFYBest part of being elderly...we are not dead.
