Listening to Yahoo's College Football Inquirer podcast (Pat Forde & Dan Wetzel) and they mentioned Harbaugh was completely transparent with recruits about pursuing an NFL job and of course, Michigan knew as well. Other coaches could certainly learn from this I think, but not sure everyone is in the same position Jim is - he's certainly welcome at Michigan no matter what he does.

Seems a lot like a revisionist idea than what actually occurred.

Every recruit signed their LoI before Gattis departed. A good many signed before MacDonald left and Jim interviewed. What exactly about that process makes kids want to sign with Michigan?

Transparency sounds nice, but the kids being recruited today see the coaching carousel. They know they can transfer once with no penalty. You have to sell something. Location. NFL route. Relationships. NIL. Campus full of cute gals.

Coaches don't take paycuts to stay at places they are wanted do they? And if Lovie Smith can get another nfl HC job, certainly Jimmah could.

Apparently recruits were contacted when Jim's name came up for NFL jobs and they acknowledged that he was open about telling them he wanted to win a Super Bowl. I assume it is true, and it is better than what Kelly did at ND. Michigan and ND will not have trouble getting recruits either way.
