I once worked with a guy who had Larry Coker as his HS coach in OK.

He said Larry was the meanest, most demanding person he’d ever met.

He claimed that Coach Larry would get info on every player’s friends (male and female) and say the most vulgar things about them during practice and pre-game warm-ups in order to get his players agitated.

Yet Larry claims to be a Christian

They had a ridiculous amount of talent all around, but their RBs in particular were insane...

Clinton Portis
Frank Gore
Willis McGahee
Najeh Davenport

Davenport had the "worst" NFL career of those 4, with "only" ~2400 yards and 16 TDs over 7 seasons.

Am I correct in remembering that Dave Benfatti started at linebacker for us in that game?
I don’t remember that specifically. All I could find was this roster chart. Toles is listed as the starter and I remember thinking he was pretty good, but I feel like he was frequently dinged up.

Didn’t Toles have Crohn’s disease or something like that where he could never keep on any weight.

Perhaps the greatest assembly of talent in college football but far from the greatest college football team of all-time. They COULD NOT score an offensive touchdown against UNRANKED Boston College. Could anyone with a working cerebral cortex possibly believe the "greatest" cfb team of all-time COULD NOT score an offensive touchdown against an UNRANKED team? It's preposterous. Think '94 Penn State doesn't score on an unranked team? Think '95 Nebraska doesn't score on an unranked team? Think '19 LSU doesn't score on an unranked team?

Try not to fall asleep watching the "greatest" college football team ever:

'01 Canes also needed five turnovers to beat the 14th ranked team (Virginia Tech) in the country by JUST TWO POINTS.

Billingsley has them properly ranked at #29 for what they actually accomplished on the football field in 2001 and not based on their reputation because whatever they did after 2001 doesn't change what took place ON THE ACTUAL PLAYING FIELDS in 2001.

Seneca did have that nice run where he lowered a shoulder into one of their safeties... maybe Ed Reed?
