Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney are also leaving.

For those who have watched regularly, this cold open featuring three alien abductees being interviewed by 'the government' will be familiar. But, the ending is new, and a nice tribute to Kate.

She is very talented. She was pretty good in Yesterday as a nasty self absorbed talent agent. And as a neurotic HR manager in Office Christmas Party.

looking forward to what she does in the future.

Also good in that Fox News movie about harassment with Robbie, Theron, and Kidman. Columbia grad.

Is it just me or do SNL cast mates seem to sticking around a whole lot longer these days?

Not sure what the average run is. Keenan Thompson has the most years at SNL (I want to say McKinnon has done more sketches than any other female cast member in SNL history). I think Darrell Hammond is second all time with 14 seasons. But of the current cast, at least four are in the top ten for most years on SNL (McKinnon, Bryant, Thompson, Strong).

I'm guessing a contributing factor is the comparative lack of opportunities to launch a comedy movie or primetime comedy show career.

Yeah, Davidson is supposedly going to star in a new show produced my Michaels ('Bupkus' - supposed to be semi-autobiographical) and Thompson actually had a show concurrently for couple of years while still on SNL but it was recently cancelled.

she was very versatile, and did a nice job portraying quite a number of diverse characters. I think she'll be missed, though SNL has a pretty good track record of replacing cast members.

Certainly a good run. I want to say she was the second character in Bill Hader’s last skit, so that tells you how long it’s been. I always liked Mooney a lot too, his digital shorts with beck Bennett were always good IMO.

I think Strong should’ve moved on with them as well. Cast has seemed bloated and I prefer more turnover.

+1. The intro was longer than the skits.

With all of the streaming services it seems like it would be easier today to get something somewhere compared to to say 15-20 years ago. It does seem like a lot of cast members are sticking around longer now though. I think in the case of Thompson he just might like the steady gig and good pay even though he's not pulling in millions a year.

It seems like everything Davidson does outside of SNL is semi-autobiographical. Don't get me wrong I really like Pete Davidson but I've just noticed this.

You can get "something," sure ... but it's harder to get something consistent and/or really bringing in the dough. The formula used to be to do your time at SNL, and then go on to be a big star (or, at least, try to be) on TV or on the big screen. That route isn't as easy any longer, and life at SNL is, comparatively, more comfortable than it used to be.
