Essentially functions as a part of the athletic department: like the Nittany Lion Club but if they paid players for NIL using donations. Kristi Dosh - who works in the NIL space - says the NCAA prohibits (or said they would prohibit) a collective that functioned as a part of the university, but looks like these folks don’t give a sh*t about that.

And they still haven’t won squat.

Penn State is, for better or worse, trying to do this the right way - A&M and others are doing it how they see fit. Personally, I prefer the A&M model with 'one' collective paying players directly with staff/university involvement.

TX A & M should probably not be the measuring stick for NIL. They had 24 players enter the portal at the end of the season.

Doesn't seem to have hurt much on the recruiting trail. It is however a cautionary tale about 'buying the best talent' in lieu of 'building a team.' That said, this initiative is new for A&M and will be interesting to see how they operate since they're basically functioning as an arm of the athletic department.

Something doesn’t smell right down there. You don’t make moves like this, pay recruits, bring in the top recruiting class in the country then fall flat on your face on the field and have 24 kids transfer out. Something isn’t right. Jimbo seems like a shady used car salesman.

I am the first born son of a double domer, my mom was born and raised in South Bend, two uncles and several cousins went to ND... I grew up in a hugely delusional ND home. Trust me, Aggies are worse.
Lol. Well, at least you have roots at ND. I’m mainly referring to those who never set foot in South Bend, but seem to think they are somehow exclusively tied to the institution though heritage or religion and think they are National Championship contenders on a yearly basis.

Come and listen to a story
About some Aggies you may know
Went to play for Jimbo
Strictly for the dough
They found that College Station
Wasn't the place to be
So they sought another payday
Wherever it might be
Portal style
Transfer nation

There is a saying in AA that goes, "If you sober up a horse thief all you have is a sober horse thief". NIL money is useless if you bring in nothing but horse thieves.

Living in Texas I am surrounded by Aggies... hands down the most delusional fan base in the country
More delusional than UT? I beg to differ. Perhaps because I'm in Austin, Longhorn territory. Their fans are insufferable. Most Aggie fans I know are rather realistic.

I’m married to a Longhorn and step daughter & son in law are longhorns… yes they have a spoiled, Michigan type elitism to them. But aggies are convinced that the entire Texas state legislature is against them. They have wild conspiracy theories about being treated like an outcast by everyone. My golfing buddy was OL at A& M in mid 90s and his wheels off theories are Alex Jones like. However I’d imagine living in Austin gives you an acute appreciation for UT insanity.

one interesting thing is UT and State are about the same student body size. However State campus geographic size is 13 times UT Austin

Know a bunch of Aggies and Longhorns. Give me an Aggie any day over a Longhorn. Longhorn fans remind me of snob fan bases.

And Aggies are no more delusional than a segment of our own fan base.

We'll see. Its only been a year or so. And in full disclosure I'm not a fan of Jimbo, He might be the elephant in the room.

The NCAA? Is that still a thing?

Doesn’t that describe many of us here?

Great list but there is zero chance Berklee School of Music has more than 200 acres... it is located in the middle of Boston
Eric, I read their website ....
Appears the school is including two sites in Massachusetts, Spain, New York.
Seems this acreage comparison in the article is apples and oranges

But the article says "To qualify for the list, the pieces of land making up the main campus didn’t have to be touching but they did have to be close enough to form a cohesive campus."

Well, if you can explain rooting for PSU because you are either Irish or Catholic, but never went there……then I guess yes?
I was referring specifically to the thinking we are National Championship contenders on a yearly basis part.

yes, I think the site didn't check for that requirement. UMich includes two campuses, which are not close. I think Dearborn is about 35 miles from AA campus, and Flint must be around 70 miles. Several of these small enrollment schools have large acreage that probably do not contain any of their buildings. If you follow their guideline on the site, and include areas where there are maintained facilities, it would look different. Still am a bit surprised how small UT Austin is - thought it was massive school.

I am Irish heritage and Catholic, and have never rooted for ND. I have many relatives who went to ND and have admired the school academically, although it has seriously compromised both its academic and Catholic heritage in recent years. It is much more of a secular school now - according to many of my family who went there. ND like many schools has become softer on its admission standards and academic rigor.
