I don't know if Kincaid "bailed".

He got hurt in their regular season finale, against Colorado (IIRC, that was their final regular season game).

He played in the P12 game against USC - but he clearly wasn't 100% (and wasn't that much of a factor against USC - and got banged up and missed some time in that one as well). That said, is it likely he COULD participate, even at less than 100%, if he really wanted to play in the Rose Bowl? Probably.

FWIW, that will be a big break for PSU (who's biggest defensive weakness is defending the middle of the field in the passing game, something Kincaid may exploit as well as any TE in the nation - he is a beast when healthy)
If it is possible for a TE to single-handedly win a ball game, Kincaid did it in the regular season game vs USC.

Don't sleep on #87, the backup TE. He had a long TD against USC and is just as capable as Kincaid in working the middle of the field.
Any TE in the Utah offensive system, facing the PSU defensive system, has a real chance to make a significant impact. Just the way that match up lays out.

That said, the kid (I am guessing it is the #87 you are referring to, the kid from Australia) is a fine athlete - but no where near as accomplished/skilled as the Kincaid kid.

He'll look like Gronkowski against us.

He could. He is a rumbling freight train once he gets going. Unless they match him up with Carter in man, I don't think anyone in that PSU back 7 (or most back 7s) is going to want to go toe-to-toe with him - and you know Diaz wants to have Carter rushing the passer (or spying) a lot.
