Commanders, Admirals, Presidents, Armada, Brigade, RedHawks, RedHogs, Defenders, and status quo (WFT) all supposedly on the table. Seems Commanders or Admirals will be the choice though RedHogs would be pretty cool (unique tribute to the team's own history - not many franchises can do that).

Wolves/RedWolves off the table because of copyright issues (but the video has some cool logo designs that unfortunately will never be used).

Stars on uniform also indicate a military nickname (but Cowboys??)....

Why not red and blue hogs. They could have a trough for a logo.

Considering that Cleveland called themselves, the "Guardians", The WTF should switch names with their baseball team and be called the "Senators" while the baseball team be called the "Galaxies". Then when baseball season comes, we could have a Cleveland/Washington match-up be the "Guardians versus the Galaxies". 🤣 🤣

On Groundhog Day. How fitting.

I have to admit "The Football Team" is growing on me. If they have to have a nickname why not simply the Hogs since the term has that history with the team??
I like it too, but certainly, some faction of population will be offended by it.

Groundhog Day? Obviously the new name will be some variation of "hogs". Otherwise why would they make the announcement on some random Wednesday? The Washington Admirals link was a clever red herring which was meant to encourage donations to a good cause.

Yeah, USA Today discusses the red herring aspect of it.

Then there's this.
