VEILLEUX vs. RUTGERS
The kid matured rapidly as the game went on. Codutti touches upon it a little bit, but the thing I liked about Veilleux was his willingness to throw contested balls downfield -- 50/50 balls if you will -- and trust that his guy would out-athlete the defender. From everything I read about the Yurcich offense, these 50-50 shots were encouraged, but it seems like Clifford has been somewhat hesitant to throw them this year...like he's almost been TOO conservative and TOO concerned with having a decent TD-INT ratio instead of taking the necessary risks, like McSorley in 16 and 17, to win games. Other than the KLS completion vs. Wisconsin and the Dotson INT vs. Iowa, I can't remember a deep ball that Clifford threw this season that wasn't wide open.
Yes, it was Rutgers, but Veilleux seemed to take more of those downfield shots even when it wasn't open - showing a willingness to push the issue and try to make things happen.
Just my two cents (obviously)
