FILM STUDY - DIAZ COVERAGE CONCEPTS

Wanted to introduce Diaz's split-field coverages at Miami -- running two different coverages on each side of the field -- and how he disguises those looks to create hesitation and confusion from the opposing QB. Much like the film study we did back in Dec. about his pressure packages, there's a lot of moving pieces to the secondary games he plays. One disclaimer: We used 2018 Miami footage...which, like Penn State 2021, was a statistically special veteran D that was ultimately undone by its flat-tire offense. Considering the key departures from last year's D, it'll be interesting to see how complex Diaz gets with a relatively green group minus JPJ and Tig.

yea it is great playing man to one side, zone on the other, until the O crosses a guy from the zone side to the man side and he is wide open for a 40 yd gain, and all you had to do was throw a 5 yard pass.

Kinda like the Michigan TE taking a short crossing route 60 yards for the game winner.

That was against pure man, with us caught blitzing though, IIRC.
