TOM ALLEN DEFENSE vs. ILLINOIS

See link above. A lot to take away here, but the main eye-catcher (to me, anyway) was how for the first time this defense resembled Manny Diaz's defense from 2022 and 2023, especially on 3rd down. Codutti called it "Radar" but it appeared to have the same DNA as Manny's "Prowler package" -- jumbled, confusing mess at the line...four DBs stacked at the first down marker giving the appearance of man when it's actually zone. Have to wonder if that was Allen's doing or if the plan all along was to restore some of Manny's philosophies...because this 3rd down stuff is nowhere to be found on Allen's Indiana film.

He had a different quality of personal. What a coach would like to do and what current talent can execute is part of game planning.
