T FORMATION FILM STUDY

See Link. Last one of our calendar year (back in July). Asked coach to really put this under the microscope -- different blocking assignments, shifts, RB reads, any tells to which side they'll run when they don't shift/motion. When it works, why does it work? When it gets stuffed, why does it get stuffed? SInce it sounds like placekicking might be an issue, it'll be interesting to see if Franklin experiments with using the T on random 2-point plays when the "sheet" doesn't say to go for 2.

Simple basic FB. Tight splits ...block down kick out and or run at the bubble.

Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed that. The only comment that I have is that the right guard and tackle pad levels seem to always be above the defender which makes it harder for them. If they got lower I think they would be able to blow that defender back 5 yards and open up the hole a little more. This was on the first few plays in the film. The right guard's stance looked a little funky as well and the right tackle, form the end zone shot looked like he was lined up telegraphing where he was going. I know in the game these days and at this level you need every advantage so that may be by design. I had an old school coach that want the lineman to be in the same stand every down so the defense couldn't pick up any clues to where the ball was going. Can't really do that with tackles these days on the fast defenders though. Still all good stuff and I do like what PSU is doing as we seem to have a running game again. I am excited to see what this season brings.

I think you are correct relative to the RT. I think 77 the right guard stance looks funky because it appears his hips are not parrallel to the LOS, and therefore he looks cockeyed so to speak.
