I prefer a brunette. Or a blonde. Or a redhead.

I wonder what the rationale is. The ruling says that all cookies and cakes must be handed to recruits in the hotel lobby. They cannot be placed in the room. Why?

But what's the difference in whether you put a cookie in their room or give them a cookie in the lobby?
Maybe it falls under this category. A former assistant coach was informed that he could offer to pay for the recruits bagel, but was not allowed to pay for any toppings (jams, spreads, etc) since that would be in violation.
Please don't ask me to explain, because quite frankly I can't.

It's great that college football is burning down, and this is the issue they decided needed to be tackled.

Nothing as it relates to the cookie - you're allowed to give them cookies I guess. They just don't want any decorating of the rooms prior to the athletes arriving.

This whole thing does come across as silly, but I get it. I'm sure the schools and coaches were asking for some relief. Because if one school does something like this, then all the schools will feel obligated to do it because they'll look bad if they don't. And where does it end? I think a lot of the recruiting rules come down to that - schools wanting restrictions because they don't want to have to keep up on the one-upmanship that constantly goes on. Just show the kids the campus, where they'll play, and be done with it.

I understand some of that rationale, but the whole recruiting process, and recruiting visits in particular, is about pampering the recruit. If they were really cracking down on that, they'd make it against the rules to give the recruit stuff. But they're just saying, you can't put it in his room. The email sent by the NCAA said you can still give them cookies, cakes and snacks, you just have to give it to them in the lobby. That's what I don't get. You can still give them stuff, just in a different location.
