Tropical Storm Arlene is now in the Gulf moving south. It isn't expected to do much and poses no threats to the US except for maybe a few passing showers for the Keys. Landfall looks to be far western Cuba on Saturday night.
Is that because of La Niña?pretty rare to see one moving north to south in the gulf
The summer pattern wind currents haven't fully kicked in yet and there's a high pressure over MO bringing northerly winds into the Gulf.pretty rare to see one moving north to south in the gulf
Going to be a challenging year for Storms to make it to the Gulf because we will have a lot of upper-level sheer. There is a bunch of hot water for any system that doesn't get torn up from the sheer patterns this summer. The summer pattern wind currents haven't fully kicked in yet and there's a high pressure over MO bringing northerly winds into the Gulf.
