If I recall correctly, Flo doesn't include incoming freshmen, or wrestlers that are redshirt freshmen, in their early rankings.

Also, a reminder that these rankings are more for offseason discussion. Injuries, weight changes, freshmen & redshirt freshmen, etc. will have a lot to say about which wrestlers man which weight classes for a lot of teams in November.

Them ranking Davis is interesting. Thought they wouldve no one since Blaze will be the guy. My guess is they put Davis in because that would give Penn st placement points and give the team score a more realistic look. Also Nagao should definitely be ranked at 141

At this stage, it is anyone's guess who goes at 133 and 141. The rest should be pretty straight forward.

Not a big deal, but Angelo over Welsh seems more of a projection (which Flo says they don't do) then a ranking. Returning finalist over a guy with a close loss to Cstarr and SV win over Plott

The rumors I've heard is that right now Ono only gets 1 yr. If that's the case he redshirts and goes next year. If PSU can get him two yrs, they'll let him go this year and next

Not sure if it true or not, but I thought international students can't redshirt.

PFP is more about career accolades and who you think is better.
Rankings are more about results from the previous year so the 1st set could look weird at some weights.
I could see Ayala ahead of Crookham. Ayala is a 2 time finalist and returning finalist at the weight. Crookham was 3rd once and was out last year.

So you've Duke starting and Kasak in RS as well. People gotta understand these top kids today don't want to RS. Look at Rocco he's at Penn st now because they made him RS. I keep seeing that Duke should wrestle this year and RS next. I originally thought that as well but these studs today are ready and a RS would actually hurt them.

I could see a scenario where Duke is beating Mitchell in year 2 and is a 165. With one of the Mirasola brothers on the bench this year. I could see a situation where Mitchell and Mirasola brothers head to Mizzu for 26-27 season.

Now this is me thinking out loud as a wrestling fan about what could happen

Then I think we might see Duke at 57 and Tyler red shirt this year, then the following year, Tyler returns at 57. Duke goes to 65 and Mitch goes to 74 after Levi graduates.

On point for a wrestling an Iowa fan. Sounds like something Willie Saylor Slumlord Bob would say.

I've often thought that it's possible that Melvin Miller ends up convincing Bo Bassett to transfer to PSU following Bo's injury default loss to Ono in the 2027 B1G quarters. Heading over to HB to post that shortly.

I think you're really going out on a limb with the messenbrink being beaten by Duke and messenbrink moving on. I'm not a particularly connected individual with knowledge. I do believe Duke could well take Kasaks spot but my point was that Taylor is ranked at a spot that no one actually believes is true. Regardless of his status of 2025 champ. All the rest of your prognostication isn't all that Interesting to me. Whatever happens with the lineup and whoever wins those spots one thing will be true: PSU will get the better wrestler wrestling for them. Works for me.

I was actually talking with a huge penn St fan and supporter yesterday and I brought this up. We had a good discussion about it. He doesn't think we see that but he is worried about the Mirasola brothers sticking around. Cael is still recruiting Ross as well.

Well, sure, the Mirasola brothers could leave. You jumped the shark when you brought Mesenbrink into it. A 2-1-1 placing senior being pushed out of the lineup. 🤣

How does admissions control how many years of eligibility the NCAA grants Ono?

They definitely don't decide that. The NCAA will decide his eligibility not Penn St admissions. Wick situation was definitely an admissions issue it was about credits transferring.

Show me where I have done anything like this before. It was a conversation with a friend that was interesting to us so I shared it.
FYI the Kyle thing I knew was a fact I wasnt gonna post screenshots from athletes talking about it
Believe me I know plenty of stuff that I don't post
