If this season is a step backwards, say anywhere from 5-7 to 7-5, should Beamer be on the hot seat? He will have what is supposed to be a first round talent at QB, better WRs, better DBs, a better OL and a talented front 7 on D. RB is the only real question mark.

We do have the new AD, but he seems pretty tolerable of a bad season, (See Paul Mainieri and Baseball and Paris in Basketball), so I would say no, while one bad season will increase the vocal disgruntlement from the fans, it will not put Beamer on the Hot Seat with who really matters.

I would say no, but it depends on the level of competitiveness. You can be, say 6-6, and be very competitive, play well, have a chance, or...

you can be 6-6 and barely win those 6, and not look competitive or get blown out in the other 6.

You need a little luck too, and refs that don't cost you a game.

Doubt it. There is too much goodwill from how last regular season ended. If he gets us to a bowl, he's comfortably safe.

This is where I would be, as well. This is the SEC, so Carolina and other middle of the pack programs are likely going to have significant fluctuations from year to year because of the overall quality of the conference. 6 or 7 wins would be really, really disappointing, but how we end up with 6 or 7 wins is the key. If the team is pulverized by injuries and loses a bunch of competitive games, then there's no hot seat. If the team is healthy and just looks unprepared half the season, then there could be some hot seat discussion.

No matter what happens in 2025, though, there is 0% chance that there's another coach in Columbia in 2026.

Have to win 8. Or win some other number & beat that school upstate. Either of those scenarios & Beamer doesn't have to lose a second's sleep.

Even with a losing season, Beamer is fine because of last year, imo. But a losing season (or 6 wins) sets up that next year to be crucial.

The miracle season won't look as good if it's surrounded by 3 failing years.

This is sort of what I think. If he beats Clemson, I think he could go 5-7 and be perfectly safe. I see no way he gets fired after 2025 unless there is some scandal and with NIL, scandals pretty much have to involve breaking laws not rules.

Now, if he goes 5-7 and loses ugly to Clemson at WB, I think 2026 will be interesting.
