After working in the yard for the last three days, I can attest to its stress

There doesn't seem to be any difference in actual temperature and heat indices for Significant Risk and Extreme Risk (both are high in the upper 90s and heat indices of 111-114).

Any heat index above 100 is dangerous. They should change the warning criteria to a lower number.

I think the difference is duration of the high heat indexes. Warning criteria are different depending in part of the country. Areas that don't see high temperatures on a regular basis have lower thresholds. I've seen excessive heat warnings in parts of New England for heat indexes around 105 where it has to be 112 here.

Just played in a tennis tourney in Oxford. Yesterday they had a company set up giving IVs; they had plenty of customers.

Yes, but it's still dangerous. To anybody.

The older I get the more I 17ing hate hot weather.
Me too. I don't know if it's my older age but I don't remember Jackson or Nawlins being as bad as Fort Worth. So many consecutive 105 days with drought to boot.
