Did he say anything about Michael Brown. I just switched over and missed it but Chuck and Doug were saying something about Brown.

He said that he wasn't a part of the team right now. Doug said that was an interesting choice of words. Are you saying that he could be a part of the team this year?

Croom responded with, "I'll let you make what you will out of it." Or something along those lines.
It didn't have a smart *** undertone or sound like that he was offended to be asked that question.

Sounded like the door is open for him to come back.

since he wasn't able to complete the spring semester, would he even be academically eligible to come back this year?

He was a freshman at FL in 2004.

I would think he has this year left to play, but maybe he could redshirt and come back next year?

then someone at BDJ called either him or a coach and put the rumor to rest. They made a post on BDJ dismissing that rumor, I think.

Croom would've stated it clearly. Croom is never vague unless he's leaving a little wiggle room.

that's why Croom played him in 06 even though he was ineligible for 6 games. I think he redshirted 04, was a Fr. in 05, transferred to MSU in 06 as a soph. and played, was a junior last year. So does he have to not attend school this year to maintain any eligibility for next?

Once he enrolled in FL the clock started.

He has 5 years to get his 4 in, this would be his last year.

I remember Veazey posted either an NCAA/SEC rule that says they can't play this year if they don't finish the spring semester. So Im not sure how he could come back.

I belevie Geno had an article on him stating he was working on completeing his course work via on line. I know nothing about how the rules apply, but if he is academically cleared and the university admitts him back in, I would think he could play this year.

If nothing else this is a hell of a rumor on a slow July day.

I could be confused, long night last night, but I thought he posted about an NCAA/SEC rule that basically said if you don't finish your spring semester or leave school, you can't be eligible for the fall semester, or something like that.

I agree that at least it is something to talk about.

I could see that as long as there is no SEC rule about spring semester like lawdog is talking about.

However, the one stumbling block I see is that I believe Brown was expelled from MSU for possessing a firearm on campus. I don't know how that rule works, but given the Va. Tech incident and other on campus weapons incidents, I'd bet that the MSU policy on weapons on campus is pretty strict, as I'm sure it is everywhere. This begs the question that if Brown wanted to come back, would the university rules on this type of thing allow him to come back?

I bring that up, because I'm thinking about the average student that fires a gun on campus and whether or not the university would allow that student to be expelled in the spring and re-enroll in the fall. To me, I'd think that would be the biggest obstacle to getting back on the team. The criminal charges and the academics are things that can be overcome in order to play. University expulsion may be more difficult.

What does this mean for AJ's chances to play for MSU? Tell me he's just taking summer school classes at JSU which he plans to transfer to MSU.

I thought AJ had already denied (to BDJ.com) the JSU rumors.
