Forget Polk. Let's go back to Stansbury for a minute.

Auburn's 7 foot freshman is transferring to Wyoming. That marks Lebo's 13th transfer (eight of whom were his signees) to transfer since Lebo was hired in May of 04. I don't know Stansbury's numbers, but they have to be similar to that. Say what you will about the guy's in game decision-making, and I have been known to question it as well, but the fact that he keeps us competitive in the SEC with the roster fluctuation he has is nothing short of remarkable. Lebo might be about to lose his job due next year due in part to this, and he was praised as the ultimate X and O coach when he got here. Gottfried is catching the heat from his fanbase as well since they have fallen off the last few years. Yet there is Stans, turning over half the roster every year (or so it seems) and churning out 18+ wins a year. The albatross is of course postseason play, and until he proves it in the postseason, I think the criticisms are deserved.

Its the fact that players that are getting significant playing time are transferring. This seven footer from AU played a whopping 13 minutes last year. Hell AK had two transfers this year, both players that never got to play.

I've always said Stans is a good coach, and I hope the overzealous MSU fans are stupid enough to make Stans want to move on, but as far as the point about transfers, its not that players are transferring, every coach has players that transfer, what is troubling to some is that Stans has had three players over the last two years that were either starters or playing over 20 minutes a game leave. That is rather unique.

If Gordon comes back it will be no big deal and with Bost and Osby I still think MSU is an NCAA tourney team, if not the preseason favorite in the West and possibly the SEC.

To my knowledge the only player that has transferred that really caught Stans by surprise is Hansborough and the rest he wasn't too upset about. It happens all the time and players want to play or play more, just ask the Delks. Lebo is on shaky ground and it seems odd that auburn has not made a move already but if he falters again, he will be gone.

I think you will be very disappointed next year, we will be young and make many more mistakes without J-Money on the team.
I just hope we can finish above .500 in the SEC next year...
NIT bound Dawgs........

.....it's that we have players leaving that are getting significant minutes on a team that has just won their division twice consecutively. You can throw up numbers all day long about how many players are transferring from other schools, but nobody once has shown me any other school that loses players at our rate that is 1) consistently successful, and 2) has had coaching staff stability. It's not uncommon for players to leave schools because the coach they signed with is no longer there, and it's not uncommon for players to leave school because of not getting to play, and it's not uncommon for players to leave schools because their team sucks. It is, however, uncommon for players to leave a winning team with a stable coaching situation.

Stansbury wins and Lebo loses.

As far as Bost and Osby go, if MSU is depending on two true freshmens to make the NCAA Tournament next year then its back to the NIT.

MSU is good enough in basketball next year to make the NIT. We are removing 3 starters (Rhodes and Hans for sure and likely Gordon) from this past year's team that had basically no depth anyway. The 2 JUCO guys we signed don't appear to be impact type players at the next level just more of role players at best. Osby and Bost should help but there again we are talking first year players so its really iffy on how prepared they are for big time basketball. We have Randy and JV returning which is a start but outside possibly Randy we don't have a decent free throw shooter on the whole team. Even with Gordon back I'm not convinced we are an NCAA team without Rhodes to complement him and without Gordon making the NIT will be a pretty nice feat. RJohnson, Bailey, BJohnson, Benock, etc. will all have to make HUGE strides in the coming year for us to a have a good year next year.

Things never change around here do they?

Why do you always take everything at face value?

Say what you want, but we will be lucky to make the NIT next year..
