Running a bit late on this one, but the Yankees had 2 former Gamecock pitchers on the mound last week. Jordan Montgomery started against the ChiSox and Clarke Schmidt came on in relief. First time in MLB history that 2 former Gamecocks have pitched for the same team in the same game. Sadly, Monty is getting horrible run support this year. He only allowed 2 runs and Schmidt allowed none, but Yankees scored 0 runs while they were pitching. This has been a theme for Montgomery this season, with the offense only scoring 16 total runs in his 7 starts.
(Disclosure: I have absolutely no idea about the accuracy of the italicized statement, but it sounds good. I'm at least 99.999999% confident it's true that it's the first time two Gamecocks pitchers have pitched in a game for the Yankees.)
