I mentioned over in the Den, I Have one of his series of prints of Joe hanging in my bar. It is remarkable. His devotion to his community was remarkable. His ability to see the world through a different lens and give back was exceptional.

RIP.

@bbrown mentioned the positive effect Matthew and Aaron Maybin have had on the youth and families of Baltimore.

'05 Ohio State game... He was a beast that night!
I could also see him holding the Orange Bowl Trophy after the FSU win. He withstood the dark ages of PSU football and left on a high note.
RIP Matthew

Aside from his career at PSU I remember him setting up his booth at PSU hotels during bowl games selling his artwork. Far too young and very sad.

RIP Matt.
Years ago I bought one of his pieces as a gift for my Dad. I got a v/m from someone to confirm the delivery address. When I returned the call, Matt was the one who picked up the phone. He shared stories about his playing days and his current work. We were on the phone at least 15 minutes.

If he was genuinely interested in talking, I'd take him as a kind, curious person. If he was just indulging a fan boy, I'd take him as a smart businessesman. Either way, he was a fine example of the Grand Experiment

So sorry that I somehow missed hearing on this board about his cancer battle. I would have wanted to help. That is what makes me so proud of PSU-commitment to THON and battle to end cancer and support the kids and families going through this horrific challenge. And locally supporting organizations like Relay for Life. Matthew was a great Penn Stater and American.
