Certainly wasn't expecting Coquese Washington to be replacing C. Vivian Stringer. Interesting hire.

Hard to believe any legit program would hire Washington to any position of responsibility above court cleanup after she destroyed the PSU women's BB program.

The lasting image I have of her after watching a good many of her games at PSU is Washington standing on the sidelines watching as if she has zero control on what is going on on the court, gazing aimlessly with her arms folded while her team goes on a turnover machine scoreless streak that in short order puts her team on the short end of an insurmountable lead.....

Just wait. She will take RU RU RU to the NCAA Tourney before PSU.

Weren’t her players

incorrect. She actually inherited a mess of a program at PSU. She went 13-18 (and 4-14 in the B1G) in her 1st season at PSU (2007-08). 2008-09 was a slight improvement, while 2009-10 was her first winning season at PSU (when they made the WNIT). 2010-11, her 4th season at PSU, was the 1st year that they went to the NCAAs with her as coach.

There was a season where she did not bring in a single (!!!) freshman player. Not one . . . and there were scholarships available. I found out later that she declined to recruit because she was pregnant. She destroyed the program and it is taking time for Carolyn Kieger to rebuild. The signs are there that progress is being made.

Sort of the inverse of the year when Portland kicked an entire recruiting class of players off the team. ;) Portland did her fair share of running the program into the ground as well at the end of her tenure.
