Here, let me help you, 615. This is the KOD
It is very possible. Lunardi has us the highest 4. T3 has us a 3. Fox having us a 2 was interesting. Warren Nolan has us predicted as going 12-6 in the SEC which would be a 3 seed.

I just want to see Mississippi State with a competitive team playing the second weekend of March Madness one more time in my life. It's been almost 30 years. That 2004 team could have won it all. Damn Xavier.*

* In an effort to be more positive, I will counter my negative comment with a positive. Cheatam Middle School outside Nashville used Cincy's Bearcat logo and mascot. Cincy sent them a cease and desist and they had to change their mascot. Xavier (Cincy's rival) contacted them and not only offered Musketeers, but offered their design team to create custom logos for the middle school. That lessened my bitterness and hatred toward Xavier University of Ohio.

Let’s revisit this in two weeks. I’m not sure how you could possibly say for certain about anything without playing at least a few conference games.

Long way to go, but I could see a 2-seed for this team. We’ll know a lot more in a month, but just from what I’ve seen so far this looks like the best team we’ve had since those early 2000s teams.

I know Stansbury catches a lot of grief for never making the 2nd weekend. And some of it is deserved. But dang did we get some really bad draws. Butler the first year they got really good, the hottest team in the country in Xavier who was nailing 30-foot shots. And some guy in a braided belt injured Winsome Frazier & we dropped to a 9-seed because he missed a month & drew a 2nd round match at #1 Duke.

Our early resume is very strong. We already have three wins against likely tourney teams, and two were on the road. You wish we could have the Butler game back but it’s not really a bad loss, they’re 70 in the NET.

Conference play is going to be crazy and if you want a high seed you probably need 9-9 or better. We will see how it goes. As it sits right now, 12 of 18 SEC games are Q1, and several more are just shy of being Q1. So there’s going to be a lot of give and take in the league this year. Winning on the road is going to be especially hard and protecting your home court will be very important.

The 2002 draw as a 3 seed in Dallas with 6th seeded Texas was tough as well.
We got everything we wanted in 2003 with Butler in Birmingham.
But that Xavier game in Orlando 2004 still haunts me.

The one seeds that year:

A very overrated St. Joseph's was the overall No. 1 (lost in Elite 8)
SEC runner up Kentucky (we were the champion) (lost in second round)
Duke (won region)
Stanford (lost in second round)

We were the 2 seed in Duke's bracket. We crushed Monmouth and 7 seed Xavier pulled away from 10 seed Louisville late. That Sunday afternoon, Xavier hit everything from 25 foot out, including a half court prayer right before halftime. They went on to lose to Duke in the Elite 8.

The national championship was a 2 seed Connecticut against a 3 seed Georgia Tech. To this day, I believe two things about Mississippi State basketball. If we beat Xavier that Sunday afternoon in Orlando, we are in the Final Four as the highest rated team, and that in 1996 at the Meadowlands, Marcus Bullard was on the take.

This ain't your Pappy's State basketball team. The pieces are in place with great off the bench players. We have dismantled the two ranked teams we've played so far. Cam, Hub and Kugel love the spotlight. I think they would rather play ranked teams than unranked.

With that said I can see why all these sites are so high on us. I am too because I think this team had upside even in the games against ranked teams. Mempho tried several times to get back in the game and we put them in their place.
