"The Americans?" Bernard recently told the sports newspaper L'Equipe, "We're going to smash them. That's what we came for."

I was standing up and yelling at the tv. It was a great race. Brando said that the top five teams broke the previous record.<span style="font-style: italic;">

I know it sounds strange, but you can get a draft in swimming, even in lap pool. By hugging the rope, he gave Lezak just enough to close the gap. I guess the French dude figured nobody had a chance to catch him, and if he had been in middle of he lane or on the opposite rope, he would have been right. The last few meters, though, it just looked like an angry swim. I'm still trying to figure out how Lezak. found enough to get the wall first.

The French are still unable to smash anything. We were up yelling at the TV too. I just wished they had kept the camera on the French for a little while longer after they lost. The looks on their faces was great and familiar...defeat.

that the warm-up pants & jackets the Frenchies had on was all white? I just thought how appropriate that was both for the race and for the nation as a whole.
