Just back from Acrisure Stadium. In addition to Steeler fans, there was a very strong contingent of PSU supporters.

Was shocked to see a receiving line with Dana and Dok. They were speaking to everyone (I was probably one of the first 500 in line and they started leaving people in about 10 minutes early.) God bless them - going to be a (another) long day.

Very somber but also uplifting. Franco defined “pillar of tbe community.” Makes you proud to be a Penn Stater.

We can never thank Franco enough for standing up for Joe and never wavering.

Pittsburgh but especially the PSU community will miss him
immensely. Who will rise to take his place?!

That's a good question. Not sure who else has the balance of notoriety, athletic credibility and personal gravitas to pull it off.
Would it affect his color commentary job? I thought of Todd as well, but get the feeling he would shy away from anything controversial. Franco had the advantage of not needing to care what the TV folks think

You are correct. Franco helped so many groups and individuals - they could not diss him unless they wanted to risk losing his generous helping hand.

And Franco never wavered when it came to Joe - still working to support him until his final days.

Was just reading about the NIL project (the $250 million endowment for PSU) that Michael Mauti and others are involved in. Perhaps someone from that group could get involved and throw some money behind a PR campaign tied to the stadium renovations.

Dana and Dok's presence, to greet those who attended, was both unexpected and incredibly classy. It speaks well of the woman he married and the son he raised.
Reminds me of the service when Richie Ashburn passed and his family greeting people who came over the course of hours to pay their respects. What struck me was Whitey’s mother being there at such an advanced age. The family was so gracious that day.

Thanks for sharing. Just conjured up memories of warm summer night’s listening to the Phillies on KYW…news radio…..1060.

How close is that group to raising the $5mm in targeted for this year?

I don’t know. They just said they were close to making some big announcement, but I have no idea what that might be. It’s a new world out there.
