early in his career I thought he was going to become the big body 1-T DT we need. He really seemed to be filling that in his first couple years, and then went off the rails barely playing. Disappeared from the team almost. Then in 2021 became a sideline guy - noted for the famous push of the player where they thought he was the other #53. We have had a few of these highly ranked guys who start out on fire, and then just seem to disappear. Not sure if there is a common thread but hat to have guys with promise flaming out and possibly losing their desire to play.

Lol. Great leaps to conclusions here. Couldnt have been his knee injury and surgery?

not sure about knee injury, but thought he broke his leg 2-3 years ago and was back to normal now. In the NFL would his injury be career ending? if his injury was career ending, why not call it an end after whatever his surgery was? OR if you are saying this is multi-year recovery for him, then just stay away from even trying to play till he is exactly back 100% to where he was. I assumed the medical staff tells these players they are back 100% and advises them.

do we expect the same trajectory for PJ Mustipher? I assume he came back to play in 2022 so he can show the NFL more film. If he were to have the same trajectory as Fred, then not sure his return will help him in terms of NFL career.

Oh man, so, your OP links Hansard with a funny trajectory, dissapearing, flame out, and losing the desire to play. No mention of an injury.

Not sure how if he was in the NFL vs college matters. But heres a novel concept, every person comes back from an injury and surgery different. Obviously wasn’t “career ending” and he tried to give it a go and play a role in practice and back up. PJ will have his own trajectory so no link. I for one applaude him for rehabbing and giving it a go. He never looked the same.

Freddie had a really bad break in the 2018 MSU game and was never the same afterwards.

Do we have no more questions?

I asked that question in the Danny George thread. If it was just one or two players I can expect that.......but it is way more than that. My observation is CJF has his player and rides him.....which i believe develops apathy when players know they probably won't see the field. Just seems strange we have so many opt-outs, portal transfers, lack of development....which asks if it was only Shorter being unhappy okay.....but we have multiple players acting disgruntled.

I don’t know a lot of the particulars involved with coaching but it is very obvious that you know even less .

Fantastic. Who has developed apathy on the team? How does Penn State stand against others with transfers? And who all is disgruntled?

Sounds like Joyner did the surgery.
