What the best place in State College to get something to eat and watch the Friday night game? Best brewery in town? Thanks.

Not sure how long your time machine needs to go back...
There is still Champs on N. Atherton (been there at least 30 years), there is one downtown too on Beaver Ave. Also, Central Reservation, Bill Pickel's, or Local Whiskey.
Or Federal Tap House.

Let's see; finals are over, it's graduation weekend so all grads plus family will be around, those attending the game will be in town including about 15k students. It's a playoff game, so SMU will have a contingent as well. Bars will be charging $10 - $20 covers and the lines will be long in most places. If I wanted to watch the games, I'd probably head out of town. Champs or Otto's on N. Atherton, or possibly the Port Matilda Hotel and Tavern. I haven't been to the Nittany Lion Inn since it reopened, but that may be worth a stop, and Legends at the Penn Stater is often forgotten about. In town, you could try the Federal Tap House, which is above Target on Fraser, but I don't remember if they have TV's.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Zeno's for drinking. The line in front of the entrance will be Bill Pickles so just walk down the steps. They usually don't have a cover so you'll have that going for you.

Brothers - new sports bar on Allen across from Champs, very good TV setup, food not bad

Federal Taphouse - TVs good around the bar, great beer selection, solid food

Champs - both locations have good TV setups, the newer one downtown has smaller food menu, but it does have a nice basement bar/game room

Primanti’s - good TV setup, ok food

Marzoni‘s - decent food, TVs ok in the bar

Happy Valley Brewing Co - good food, good TV around basement bar

Hiway Pizza - good food, TVs not bad

Kelly’s (Boalsburg) - very good food, TVs good in bar room

The Field (Toftrees) - very good food, TV just ok

I am a creature of habit. Champs on N. Atherton almost every Friday night on game weekend and sometimes on Sunday afternoon to catch a little NFL before leaving town. (Only if my wife consents to drive as we live in Virginia)

If watching the game is important, easy access and parking as well along with pretty solid food and beer and drink options, consider Happy Valley Brewing.

The basement bar is great but also may have music on Friday evening ( Tgar has not checked ).

We usually only make it up once a year, but we always end up at Champs on North Atherton Friday night.
