He was a great person, and the kind of coach his players were blessed to have. I must say it's hard for me to remember when he wasn't around in one coaching capacity or another. He was active in the profession back when I was in high school. I remember when he was coaching Eau Claire, and very successfully.

I remember being recruited by Coach Baker when he was the Head Coach at East Carolina. Outstanding man and coach. He spoke at my high school spring banquet too -- back when schools still had spring banquets. He was a helluva story teller.
