UVA inbounds with a 2-point lead and 12.3 seconds left on the clock. Furman tried to foul but the UVA player heaved the ball down court with about 5 seconds left, thinking the clock would run out. Furman intercepted the pass, moved the ball quickly up court and nailed a 3 with 2.4 seconds left.
Furman actually let UVA get off a good shot at the end that just barely missed.

Hope they didn't use up all their mojo on this win. Would love to see Furman become the mystery team of the 2023 tourney.
Yup! The only #1 seed to lose to a #16. A couple of years later, lost to a 15 seed, now to a #4 seed!
They lost as a 4 in the 2021 Tournament. I don’t believe they lost to a 15 as a 2. They lost as a 1 seed in 2018. They won it all in 2019, Covid in 2020, and 2021 they lost as a 4. Missed it completely last season.
still…if UVA doesn’t win the whole thing in 2019, they’d be considered the biggest tournament flippers ever.
