Is it a guarantee the SEC moves to a 9 game conference slate?

I know Beamer has openly talked about scheduling needing a hard look in the future due to the committees clear message in the seeding.

Next year we are slated to play VT in Atlanta to open the season and 2026 we have Miami. Obviously in addition to Clemson. We won’t alter that, but it doesn’t appear the return on playing these games has the value it certainly appeared and has had up until this point. I love the matchups and think it’s awesome we play these games personally.

I’d be interested to how the league responds as a whole, especially if they only get 3 teams compared to the BIG getting 4. The first year of expanded playoffs and 16 team leagues after the footprint was widened in each conference. It’s absolutely notable the BIG may get an extra bid.

Curious to thoughts out there?

Can we also stop playing OOC games on the road. There is no need for this team to play App St at their place and continue to play teams in Charlotte. All OOC games should be played a WB.

I can’t imagine there’s any interest in going to a nine game conference schedule after this playoff debacle.

Nick Saban kinda sounded like if it were him, he may look to change future ooc schedules and drop the tougher teams. And when the guy from the Big 10 on the committee was asked about that type of view, (maybe its just me) but the guy looked kinda surprised. It's like it didn't even dawn on those folks that their decisions may have ramifications on the direction of college football itself... like they are winging it and ignorant to the fact they are setting the stage for regression. Another thing Saban said is he hopes this first year is a lesson on what needs to be done going forward. I hope he's right. This path the committee has set us on is a pathetic one... looking for weak opponents. Unreal we can let a group of 12 or 14 people do this to college football. I've always wanted to see a ninth conference game played. Not now though. Not under the powers that be now.
