During the second half of last night's debacle, it once again became painfully obvious Croom and Co are not qualified to coach a college football team. We've had red-flag indications in the past ('04 Maine, '05 Houston, '06 Tulane, plus piss-poor offensive showings every freaking year since '04) yet somehow those indicators were often overlooked because we were quote "building a team from the ground up." ********! typical LT and Ron Polk mentality at work, whatever!

Anyway, here's a list for Greg Byrne showing qualities of who NOT TO HIRE as the next head football coach for MSU. I use this WHAT NOT TO DO list as a marker because being a casual observer of college football, I do not know enough about college football to know for sure who would be a good coach. All I know is this: the ****** product being displayed now and for the last 4 years is not working. So, the following list represents gross negligence and grounds for not even making the final interview list if you are Greg Byrne:

10. Never hire a coach who says "You will never see the names of my players in the papers for doing wrong, not on my watch." This shows how inept a coach is if he thinks 18-24 year old college players will not get into trouble and be choir boys for 4 years, just because he tells them its wrong to do so.

9. Never hire a coach who always mentions their rival's name so as to fan the flame of penis-envy or jealousy. Talk about MSU and don't take digs at an in-state rival, it shows a lack of class.
8. Never hire a coach who refers to his running back by the nickname "Boobie"
7. Never hire a coach who takes himself and his entire coaching staff to other un-named schools to become competent at devising offensive and defensive schemes. This should already have taken place at the graduate level of the potential candidates background - especially if the candidate already has NFL experience. This is a true red-flag indicator of lack of mental competency.
6. Never hire a coach who employs his best friend as Offensive Coordinator, especially since the best friend has no experience or competence at developing young high school QB's - or calling a competent game plan for offensive success - or consistently is ranked at damn near 100 or more in Div.1 offensive statistics for 4 straight damn seasons.

5. Never hire a coach who has Alabama ties (includes played for Bear, coached for Bear, or even mentions the words: Bear Bryant)

4. Never, ever hire a coach who makes this statement: "I will never fire any of my coaches…I don't care what the fans think."
3. Never hire a coach who wants to run the West Coast Offense at the college level and then he in-turn NEVER recruits the type of West Coast style QB, RB, WR, etc. to run the system he wants to implement - and then by sheer bull-headedness continues to blame his players for their incompetence when he himself created the vicious cycle of stupidity.
2. Never hire a coach who hires ex-MSU football coaches who were fired by MSU (WTF? does this make any damn sense to anybody? How in the hell and why Rockey is back on our coaching staff is grounds for removal right now in and of itself)
1. Finally never, ever hire a coach who uses a dumb-*** 2 QB system favoring a midget walk-on Juco sensation over a proven starter even when everybody else on the damn globe who gives a **** about MSU says not to!

2 words: Competancy and Accountability. It seems we have neither on our current FB coaching staff.

Also never hire a coach who recruits a QB based on said QB making a tackle after throwing an INT. Also never hire a coach who would recruit the DB being tackled by said QB.

Coaches visiting other schools to exchange ideas is pretty common. The last thing we need is a coach who thinks he already has all the answers and doesn't need to pick up some pointers from other coaches.

So which schools did they target?

How ironic would it be and typical of this coaching staff if those schools were from the WAC.

I agree that competency is a problem, however with Byrne I do not think that accountability will be an issue like it has in the past.

Yeah, thats true about Byrne.

However, I am not up-to-speed on Croom's contract/contract extension.

Looks like we are stuck with him for about another year or 2. Hell, who knows ?
