Looks like ugaly wont need any help losing on their ownZebras doing all they can to keep Notre Dame in it.
Amen to that.Looks like ugaly wont need any help losing on their own
This postseason has been disastrous for Southern football, which is being set back innumerable years.
I felt deep down that the SEC was mediocre this year. The stars are aligning for us to do some damage if we can't get our defensive front 7 together for next year. Now 20-10 ND in 3rd quarter. Did UGA really deserve to be in the playoffs or do they just not want to be there?
I would not. I'm still a believer in the importance of brand, and the SEC brand has been sullied grievously. We helped achieve that, along with Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas A&M. The league's reputation is in shreds. We are a national joke.If it wasn't ND, i would be happy to see uga lose.
Looked like they were either overlooking ND or they really didn't care to be there. I think maybe the $$$ has changed their want-to... or maybe the success has.Now 20-10 ND in 3rd quarter. Did UGA really deserve to be in the playoffs or do they just not want to be there?
We are not the SEC. We are a member school that had a surprisingly good year. I’ll wave OUR flag but not the SEC flag. Maybe I’m just different. When Georgia or Bama or LSU won it it did very little if anything for us.I would not. I'm still a believer in the importance of brand, and the SEC brand has been sullied grievously. They finally found their man, but beware, unless the landscape is reworked, almost every coach will be subject to precipitous collapses. Even Saban felt his grip on success slipping. Ain't nobody out there no SabanI hate to admit it, but dang, I really like Marcus Freeman. It is so weird to like something about ND after all these years. He’s a heck of a coach.
It's Ohio State's to lose now.Stockton couldn't get it done. I must admit, I didn't think ND was that good. Bet the kid who tripped the ref on the sideline and whoever jumped offside on the 4th and 1 are feeling bad. It's up to the Longhorns to carry the flag now.
Glad Coach Kelly went to LSU. He threw players under the bus and you never hear that from Freeman. He owned the disastrous loss to NIU and has learned how to be a better head coach.I hate to admit it, but dang, I really like Marcus Freeman. Amen, lets stand on our own feet and celebrate our own successes and not worry about the other SEC teams. Its like minding your own business and keeping your head down working instead of worrying about your neighbor. We are not the SEC. We are a member school that had a surprisingly good year. Given the current volatile state of college football, I'm not sure it takes "innumerable" years for anything to happen. However, for that same reason, I'm not sure any team or conference can expect to stay on top year after year in this new college football world. FSU went from an undefeated regular season to a dumpster fire in one year. AZ State went from 3 wins to a playoff team in one year. The suddenness of the rises and falls we see in teams will be true for conferences as well. This postseason has been disastrous for Southern football, which is being set back innumerable years.
I like pulling for SEC teams. It's as good a reason as any to pull for a team in a contest I'd otherwise care nothing about. It's not like our "pulling-for powers" have ever actually influenced the outcomes.Amen, lets stand on our own feet and celebrate our own successes and not worry about the other SEC teams. The SEC IS our business - literally fiscally.Amen, lets stand on our own feet and celebrate our own successes and not worry about the other SEC teams. Its like minding your own business and keeping your head down working instead of worrying about your neighbor.
I am not an expert at the pay outs. Would we get more from making it into the playoffs ourselves or by Georgia making it to the semifinals of the playoffs? I hope it is by making it ourselves versus living off the success of others. The SEC IS our business - literally fiscally.
We certainly get more not making it to the playoffs than if we weren't in the SEC.I am not an expert at the pay outs. We are in the SEC and I can't see that changing any time soon. I think we are on the cusp of being in the top quartile of teams and making the playoffs ourselves. I think that is worth focusing on and not worrying about the other teams. Did Nick Saban worry about anyone else or did he just go out and take care of business? I'd like to see that sort of mindset in our team and the fans.We certainly get more not making it to the playoffs than if we weren't in the SEC.
Certainly we would get more by going to the playoffs, of course, reduced by the SEC's share. But I'm thinking about the value of future television deals. We're close to the Big 10 now, but the gulf will widen if they keep being demonstrably the superior league while the SEC keeps looking like sch!tt in the postseason. The current state of affairs is untenable from that standpoint. The SEC needs to reassert itself starting next season.I am not an expert at the pay outs. Here is a question, if the Big10 offered Clemson and it was perceived to increase their value would you want the SEC to consider adding them? The same question can go for UNC and several other teams. If Bellechik had them humming in 2-3 yrs or Dabo pulled one out of this *** and made the finals or won it that could make either very attractive. I think FSU is such a dumpster fire right now I won't include them in the conversation.Certainly we would get more by going to the playoffs, of course, reduced by the SEC's share. In our part of the country, North Carolina is the plum, and no other school compares. Right now, I'm not looking beyond that. Here is a question, if the Big10 offered Clemson and it was perceived to increase their value would you want the SEC to consider adding them?
