The long awaited return of wbcbus (fka wbcincy) to State College is upon us. It's been 15 years, and time to bring my now 10 year old son to his first game (just the Ohio game for his first experience, going to start coming annually and to better games after this).

I've only passingly paid attention to posts about new ticket policies over the years since I wasn't coming, so I want to make sure I don't screw anything up. In the past, I would've just shown up on gameday and bought some tickets for cheap outside the stadium for a game like the Ohio Bobcats. Is that still the case, or are there issues buying from scalpers and fake tickets, etc now?

Tickets are all digital, so there is that. You would have to get them transferred from another person. Not sure if they even deal in paper tickets anymore.

Buy the electronic tickets on line through one of the usual sources (ticket master is the psu ticket exchange source, stub hub, etc). Whichever source has the best ticket price and stadium location you prefer).

Make sure you download your mobile ticket to your phone's wallet BEFORE you go to the stadium. Do not rely on cell signal on gameday at the stadium to perform that task.

You may be too late for the advertised $30 tickets for the Ohio game offered on Aug 1. Call the Athletic Dept Ticket office for any extras or the possibility of unsold tickets. All tickets are digital on your phone - no paper tickets at all. Perhaps a ticket exchange that is sanctioned by Penn State. Good luck.

Wow, I'm surprised the stadium still fills with the lack of paper tickets being exchanged outside the stadium. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Is there a noticeable difference in butts in seats since it went all digital?

there is a paper ticket option, but PSU charges season ticket holders extra for this. So, there is a chance for a transfer of a ticket outside the stadium, but it's not like it was in the past.

You'll need a PSU Ticketmaster account to purchase electronic tix. Basically, the owner of them has to transfer them to you.

Another option is Jim Fath, aka PSUTixMan, or TixManJim. I've purchased tix from him in the past, and can vouch for his integrity. You can look at what he has available on his web site:

Good luck, and have fun!

They’re making stuff so simple it’s becoming complicated. Whose bright idea was this?
