Finally, a win in Charlotte!

Chad Holbrook was head coach at USC from 2013 through 2017. In his first year as HC, the Gamecocks lost a tightly contested Super Regional to UNC 2-3 in Chapel Hill. We started our in-season series with UNC in 2016. The 2 in-season games played with UNC under Holbrook, USC lost by a combined score of 5 to 35.

2018 (Kingston's first year as USC Head Coach): (L) 3-11
2019: (W) 5-2
2020: No Game (season was cut short after their March 10th game with The Citadel due to the Covid Pandemic - a game vs UNC in Charlotte was initially scheduled for April 7th)
2021: (L) 2-3 (10 innings)
2022: (W) 15-2
2023: (W) 5-0

3-2 vs UNC under Kingston thus far. We've seemed to somewhat right the ship against the Tarheels in our one-game series. Should this trend continue, expect the Tarheels to beg out of the series in short order........

For anyone at the game, can you confirm that it was overwhelmingly Gamecock fans there. A guy on the UNC site was complaining about going to the ACC championship game in Charlotte and to this baseball game in Charlotte, that it's always a home game for Clemson and Carolina. He must of thought Charlotte was a Tarheel town...lol...

I used to go many years ago to the Diet Pepsi Tournament in Charlotte. It would normally be about 50-50 Gamecock and Tarheel fans...Tarheel fans amaze me at how they think their brand is national compared to us and Clemson. Outside of Eastern and Central NC, nobody cares about UNC...Western NC is VOL/Tiger Country.

The #1 ranked High School player from Providence Day in the next recruiting class said, it would be nice to stay home and play for the Gamecocks since it's the closest school to his home. Finally, a kid with a brain. We are the home team in Charlotte.
