There will be a drop but a lot of guys in this lineup that can change the game with one swing. Confident bunch too, which is important in baseball.
True. Gives hope that if you can get base runners you can come back to win any game with one swing.

Man, left 3 on base in the bottom of the 6th.....inexcusable. :ROFLMAO:;)
Brewer's BA wasnt all that good prior to this week. He's really turned that around the last couple of games. Would have been pretty cool to see him get two grand slams last night and drive in 8 runs in two at bats.

Y'all need to pump the brakes a bit. We've played one of the softest schedules in the country.
Others are playing soft schedules as well. And losing games to cupcakes they shouldn't be losing. We have managed to "win the ones we should" without any bad losses which has not been the case in recent years. This is an improvement for sure.

Sometimes it's your day, sometimes it's not.
Fundamentally I think we look better at the plate than this time last year. So imo, there's that. I gotta think Monte has made a difference.
What does concern me about our schedule to this point is we havent had many close games. Hard to tell how good we will be in those situations when we are facing good pitching. Will we be able to manufacture runs when we have too and the pressure is on? I guess we will see soon enough now.
That said, from what we know now, we have the pitching to win all our weekday games. Shouldnt be out of the realm to win half our conference games at the very least. No reason not to think we should at least host a regional. In fact it should be expected now more than ever.

I think we’ll see a lot of runs in conference, just too much competition. I see a lot of programs around .500 in conference, just need to try and win series every week and don’t get swept!

Yet we're still 9th in the League in BA.
We're about to start seeing real pitching starting Friday. A lot of guys are going to have a Wes Clark type of experience once SEC play starts.
If Will doesn't get his control on his fastball, SEC bats are going to eat him alive, which doesn't bode well for Friday nights.
12th in Fielding %. Defense could be a liability.

Definitely need to tighten up the defense. Errors and walks = runners on base which come back to haunt you.
Would like to be able to count on Friday night in the win column like we used to be able to do in the Roth days.
Winning on Friday increases your chances of taking the series.

Thanks for that. I'll steady myself.

Yes, I've watched every game, we have some defense to shore up, we're not terrible, but the speed in making the plays and sloppy throws have cost us some bases, also a few rookie routes in the outfield have not looked so smooth, I think that will be worked out with reps.

I do think we have traded a little defense to get our best lineup at the plate and to be honest I'm ok with that, you might have to give a little in the field to get more at the plate!
