Haven’t done a whole lot of research, so I came here to see if I could gather some more information. Who is it looking like has the inside track to playing SS this season? Looking at our lineup it seems like most positions are set, but after losing Braswell, SS was obviously up in the air. Is Tippett naturally a shortstop? Did we bring in a portal guy? What’s the word?

It appears Tippett has a goood chance to be the starter
True freshman Ellis is also a shortstop that they are high on
Plus a recent SS transfer shortstop from Florida State that seems to be able to play multiple positions

Long time Gamecock baseball fan. I don't follow the BS hype.

Are we competitive this year or not? I'm willing to listen .... and hope. I just don't have tolerance for crap-o-la.

Post season is a minimum .... YES or NO???

The lineup will be stout. Almost every position player from last year is back minus Wimmer and McGillis. The question is pitching, specifically starting. Some good guys that have been solid, but no true ace as of yet.

Starting pitching is the biggest question. Bullpen is fine, hitting is fine.

I'm worried about the defense. Whittle follows the baseball program very closely, and listening to him talk about the defense didn't give me much confidence. Better hope we hit a bunch of dingers.

While I do realize that we haven't played the creme de la creme yet, the team has shown potential ... but, isn't that what springtime is really about anyway?

So far, we are winning the tune up games and some of the big boys are not.
Pitching has looked improved over last season and our big bats are still there. Just need to settle in on getting our lineup set to get runners on base to manufacture runs and for the big bats drive home.
