We are the enigma of college baseball. WE win series against No. 1 Texas and No. 4 Vanderbilt but get swept by Clemson, Tennessee and lose midweek games to Xavier, Citadel and Presbyterian. How does that happen?
As far as Kingston being an up and coming coach, so was Chad Holbrook so we obviously got both wrong as did many others. Cant say its because you cant win at South carolina because that was debunked in baseball for a long time.

He was? Nobody knew who Kingston was. Hell, I live in Tampa and didn’t know Kingston. We hoped for the best once he was hired, but I think most of us were surprised he was the best we could get.
By the way, in PC’s previous game before Tuesday’s debacle, they were beaten 36-4 by Campbell. Let that sink in…
I don't think we have enough pitching to win many mid week games. We have to save for the weekend. Even then, the risk is still there to run out by Sunday's game.

He’s certainly highly regarded as a coach. I wouldn’t say that about someone if I didn’t think it and I think he’s going to do a really good job there.”
I remember that. I also remember MLB personnel liking him.
This doesn't mean he will be a success however. I'm sure he will get another year.
Time will tell if he is capable.
This is all talk after he was hired. It’s garbage. Everyone was surprised a guy like Kingston was the best we could do. He didn’t do all that much at USF. The writers have to write something. It is what it is. I was hopeful because I bought into all that crap after the fact. While it may not mean ****…looks like there might be something to me not knowing people…because Kingston sucks.

At USF he was coming off a 42-19 season and two postseason appearances in three seasons. He also had the #5 recruiting class in the country coming in. So just stop before you make yourself look even more clueless.
What did he win there? He had an overall losing record in conference play over those 3 years at USF. Basically had one decent year, his 3rd. He went 14-10 in conference (AAC) that year…knocked out of a regional by Bethune Cookman. Nothing spectacular.
I find it hard to believe he had a top 5 class, but maybe you’ve got something to back that up. Not doubting your word…just doubting that he, or any coach really, was capable of that at USF. I did look up the previous year and his class was 87th.
Regardless, It doesn’t matter. Truth is none of us had heard of Mark Kingston until O’Sullivan turned us down and Tanner screwed up the search. Bottom line is Kingston is terrible and needs to go.
And for the record, there is a way to have a discussion without coming off as a complete douchebag. Every post you make has such an a$$hole edge to it. Just relax dude.

I continue to be impressed with his ability that he is so well-rounded to handle the challenges and meet the expectations that we have here at the University of South Carolina. I’m very confident that our players and our fan base will be excited to have him as our next head coach.”
And you're wrong...plenty of people knew who he was. Just because you didn't doesn't speak for what others knew.
As for your last comment...look up the word "irony" in the dictionary.
Why? Because I disagreed? I have no issue that we don’t see eye to eye…but every response you’ve made has had some sort of smarta$$ comment in it. Not only this thread, but many other threads you post in. Just because someone questions what you say or disagrees doesn’t mean they are out to start something with you.
As I said, I didn’t doubt your word…thanks for providing where you found that. Though it is pretty remarkable I can’t find anywhere that shows USF having a Top 5 class anywhere. I’d assume Tanner was referring to what he had at the time we hired him, which is what you said…so who knows how that class would’ve ended up had Kingston stayed. It finished in the 30’s after he left.
I would expect the AD that hired Kingston to build him up. Still never thought Kingston was that great of a hire. The feeling around most Gamecock fans was that it was disappointing that we couldn’t hire a coach with more success. But I, like almost all Gamecocks were hopeful and bought into this spin of all the stuff you are posting. I’m sure this is debatable and I’m not going to die in this hill.
I still have a hard time believing you knew who Mark Kingston was. It’s nothing about you or against you personally. What you say is correct that others might have. But outside of Tampa, USF Baseball, or college baseball media…I can’t imagine many Gamecock fans knew him. I doubt many know USF’s coach now, or any AAC Coach for that matter. Kingston wasn’t a name at the top of the list early in the search. But heck, maybe you did…you might have been in that very small minority.
