I think the way they do NIL, you don’t get all of it if you don’t play in bowl game.
We can laugh all day long but I know what not spending money got us.
Every NIL deal is different. High profile players have clauses that allow them to opt out of non-CFP bowl games without losing money.
Mullen got us to the Gator Bowl three times without a team payroll. Just saying.
I mean, would you go to Jacksonville if you didn't have to?
No doubt OM had a good team this year, but they shouldn't have lost the relatively easy games like Florida and Kentucky.
Still, trying to be objective, I think they were better than Alabama whose fans (and former coach) fully expected them to get selected even though they had two terrible losses - Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
But SMU got in while only playing two Top 25 teams and losing both of them. Strength of schedule was terrible.
No, but opting out was unheard of until just a very few years ago. Players had some school allegiance then that they don't have now.
Unfortunately, State spent too much money based on what it got us. In fact, $ spent per win probs my favors the Bears!
They looked better when they looked good, but there resume was worse. Basically the same signature wins except bama beat lsu and the bears losses were worse.
If I was the orange, cotton and peach I would have 2 bowls. If you finish like UM did you fall to a really poor bowl due to not being in the group of 12. I’m not for them but think of State if they are 8-4 they go to Liberty at best. We are being squeezed y this.
I bailed from Montgomery in October. I live in Pensacola now and it's better than both. I have got to go to bed soon, The Blue Angels will be buzzing my house by 9AM
I love how you old heads hold on to the bowl system. It's over, man. They are irrelevant.
