I think so. Only two things could prevent it: (1) - the new coach is still busy coaching, or (2) - this search has fallen apart.
Or a guy like Sean Miller is going to wait and see as well. Our job is not as good as Florida’s. Most coaches would jump at that job. Each of the past 2 basketball hires we’ve had, before Tanner, has us getting turned down by some guys. Not much has really changed. This job isn’t that attractive. We’ll probably hire our fallback option. I figured this going in…but Sean Miller wasn’t going to get the kind of contract to jump at without seeing what other jobs come open. Maybe our biggest mistake is that we don’t move on from coaches quick enough. At this point, if Miller isn’t in, we probably should move on. Of course, Tanner will be criticized for that too.
We need to give place to the possibility that communication is ongoing. There are certain things we are not in a position to observe, but we theorize anyway. In that sense, we are all using the shotgun approach to this thing.
Strange hire. His only HC experience is 3 years at San Francisco. 2 good seasons and 1 bad.
Well, Miller turned us down a couple of hours ago and took the Xavier job. So we will see what sort of back up plan Ray has and how long it will take to put it in motion.
If life weren't so precious to a man my age, I might wish to go to sleep until Ray has something. Then I might wish to go back to sleep.
