Gene has his top 15 candidate list, seems like Raffo has it all figured out!

He is going to recruit top notch, high draft pick talent, and he is going to recruit pitchers in the mold of Dubose, Maholm, Brantley, etc. His hitters would also be aggressive at the plate trying to score runs any way possible. He is going to bring in players for official visits and offer them early! Where's the contract!

A few years ago, some poster over there was busting on Raffo, and he told them to stop because it was making his wife cry.

Yes, that is typical Swan Lake fodder, but Gene is hardly going to be a neutral source in this matter. I wonder if his family and the Raffo's aren't at least "casual friends", so while Gene won's openly come out and say it because that would go against Byrne, who now controls Gene's "exclusive access", I believe Gene to be a Raffo supporter.

Gene is the kind of guy that just wants a nice, "classy" guy who has been a staple of the program to be our coach. It makes him feel warm and fuzzy. He's apart of that disturbing portion of the fan base that would rather have a coach that sends every player in the conference a card on Arbor Day and is deemed a "great guy" by everyone and doesn't really give a damn that our program has nosedived.

Its like when hubdog speaks about Cohen and says "Im not sure everyone is ready for the whole package". Well, I am. I hope our next coach is an *******. I hope everyone in the conference hates him. I hope he forgets everyone's birthday, including his wife's. I hope he drives the entire team over to oxford, sits them behind the dugout and encourages him to flip their coaches and trainers off. Im ready. Ive been ready. Its long overdue.

I hate our loser fanbase.

Even though this is pointing to reply, edit should be where it is showing up in this screenshot. You won't have delete because that is something only a moderator can do.

What kills me about people wanting Raffo is, if he isn't in a MSU uniform the same people would say he is greatly underqualified. Just mention that the hitting coach for one of the worst teams in the ACC is wanting the job. They are regularly at the bottom of the conference and their recruiting sucks although he knows the program and is familar with our players (who will only be here for a couple of years). You would get laughed off the board.

The only positives that Polk or anyone else can say about Raffo is, he knows the players and how the dugout club and diamond girls run. I want someone who actually has the ability to win Baseball Games. We can hire Raffo to run the damn dugout club and diamond girls. He can clean the toilets at the Dude also.

Almost everyone on the list has "no ties to MSU or the south". He just took a lot of the premiere names in college baseball put them on a list with their accomplishments.Makes sure to point out all the flaws of Cohen and Casey. Then adds Raffo and the obvious steps it would take to be an unbeatable force in collegiate baseball. What a douche bag! Without using the energy it would take to look back did he even list any of the batting averages of past teams, just curious to what those would be.

first off, I don't think Tommy is the right guy. However, I don't hate Tommy Raffo. In fact, I like him alot. Not just because he was an All-American here. And not because he has pretty much dedicated his professional career to State. I like him because I consider him a friend. I mean we aren't close, but I knew him pretty well when we were at State together. Again, I don't think he's the guy we need, but I won't attack him personally. It's not his fault he is being considered. And I don't blame him for wanting the job. I just don't understand why people make it personal. Be pissed at the people who hire him if you don't want him to be the coach. Don't get pissed at Raffo.

Those are the same people that would support Hitler for baseball coach if Ron Polk said he should succeed him. If that happened don't look for Sandy Koufax to be the First Pitch Banquet speaker anytime soon.

Seriously, those people don't have a mind of their own, know anything about baseball, much less what it takes to win.

They talk about how we play the game the right way and do thing the right way, all the while we're commiting five errors, abusing our pitching staff, and go up to the plate looking for a walk. But by God, we don't lean in to pitches!

The good news is that it seems like very few people want Raffo, most importantly the people that actually have to make the decsion.

that if we named Raffo the HC, it would probably not be the best move for Raffo either. Him going to another school where he could learn on the job and actually be accepted by most of the fans would be a blessing for him.

I really think if he became State's coach right now, he would be starting off with an 0-2 count and Mariano Rivera circa 1998 on the mound. He would be doomed to failure.

but a lot of people are just going after Raffo's head because he is being considered. Be pissed at Polk, LT, or Bryne. Raffo
is kinda caught in the middle. If he gets the job, I won't be happy, but what can you do? I'll hope he gets it done and I'll support him until it goes to ****., but I'll also be calling for Bryne's head.

If he is hired I hope he does well and does recruit pitchers in the mold of Maholm, Dubose, Pappelbon, etc. He seems like a genuine "good guy". I am sure it is his aspiration to be the head coach and that is why most people coach and that is eventually to become a head coach. This decision is totally left up to the Athletic Department and they do have far more information available than we do. However, the felating of "Gene's picks" and his distorted views he puts on his site are comical enough that the subscription I view using someone else's login is worth every dime that I dont spend on it!

You liken Raffo to being a friend, and in the same post you say that you aren't close. Can we have a winner please??

Most people have a lot of people they consider friends and then a much smaller group of "close friends." I thought it was pretty obvious what he meant, but I guess I'm a mind reader.
